Watching On Demand

I am a stay-at-home mom but I rarely watch TV especially since I usually have a lot of chores to do. That's why I prefer watching DVD's because I can watch at my own convenient time. Sometimes, I would ask my husband to rent or buy a DVD movie or TV series. However, it takes time and money, not to mention the limited titles available in the stores. It would have been great if Charter Digital was available here in our area, since they have over 6,000 movies and shows to watch anytime I want. Charter Digital has On Demand service and it's even free to access!

I think this is appropriate for me because if I missed one episode of my favorite show, I can easily watch it the day after they air on TV - no waiting, no fixed schedules!
Ondemand
This is recommended for kids, too. My daughter who is in kindergarten only watches TV on a Friday afternoon or on weekends. I gave her this kind of discipline as I want her to focus on studies during weekdays. But with On Demand, she could watch the shows she missed during school days especially her favorite TV shows like Dora and Spongebob.

I can't wait to have On Demand available in our area and I surely would want to learn more at charter.net/ondemand. Lucky for you if you have it already as you can get updates and fun extras on Charter’s Facebook page.

Yummy Sunday: Seafoods

My second entry for Yummy Sunday is all about Seafood. Seafood is my favorite dish most especially the crab and the shrimp. I could eat a lot if these foods were served at parties or even at home :D

Most often, after we went to church on a Sunday, we took our lunch to one of Cagayan de Oro's native food resto and ordered these foods (see below: crab and shrimps were not available). In all fairness, it tasted good and we went home fully sated :D

Sizzling Squid (with veggies)

Tinolang Isda (Fish soup)

Chain Letters

I haven't got the time to check on my emails lately but this morning, I took the time to open and read then deleted the spam mails and other unnecessary messages. What I meant by "unnecessary" messages are the chain letters. It would have been okay if someone asked me to pray for him/her and that's all. However, these messages ended like this: please take time to read this because the son of the President (of a particular country) who deleted these message died. Or, you will be in bad luck if you don't forward this message to others.

When I received this kind of messages and sensed that it was indeed a chain letter, I would delete it right away. I don't even bother to read. I can't blame my other friends who sent this to me because maybe they believed it and were afraid, too. But whoever made this kind of chain letter, how dare he/she. Nobody has the right to say your life will end just because you don't read the letter at all. I hope they will stop doing this because Life is not a joke!...

Halloween Week

It's already November and how time flies so fast! And I can't believe that Christmas is even on the way. But before I talk about that, let me share to you our activities last week. Tuesday of last week, my daughter Chloe had their Halloween fun day at school and I have (need!) to be there. She donned again her Tinker Bell Costume because she wanted to be a fairy. My little fairy had fun and so far, had the best time of her life. She was requested by her teacher to sing Taylor Swift's Love Story (her teacher just asked her to practice the 2 days before the program!) which, I was glad, she memorized it right away! ;-)

Saturday of last week, Chloe joined again McDonald's Halloween fun day together with her cousin. This time, she donned her vampire costume (she wore it last year) and glad that my husband helped me with the make-up! hehehe... Well, he knew the vampire-look better than I! Chloe's cousin wore a pumpkin monster costume. Both kids enjoyed the fun and received lots of prizes ;-)

(Tinker Chloe; and with her cousin Kirk)

Sunday, November 1, my mom, 2 brothers and their wives and kid and my family visited my dad's grave at the cemetery. We stayed there for more than 2 hours because we arrived very late in the afternoon already. My family always make it a point to gather there on November 1st. I hope you had a good week, too! (more pics will be posted soon at Chloe's blog)

Yummy Sunday: Birthday Cake

Another week, another entry. Thank you Bogie of Perfectly Blended for inviting me again. My Yummy Sunday entry is my daughter's Birthday Cake. Her 6th birthday was themed after Disney's Tinker Bell so obviously, Chloe dressed herself up like her favorite tiny fairy. The flavor of this cake was a combination of mocha and choco moist and the taste was really superb! Until now, I still crave for this cake, hehehe...

Blowing the candle of her Tinker Belle Cake (plus the puto on the side was yummy, too :D)

You Gotta See This Video

One of the reasons why I don't blog much these days is my eyes. It gets blurry from time to time. I used to wear eyeglasses before and I was told I also had astigmatism. But later, I stopped wearing it because I thought my vision had improved. These days, however, I sometimes experienced throbbing headache then my vision gets blurred. I thought of seeing an opthalmologist but since I've heard about iLasik procedure, I think I will opt for this one. I've checked on their site and learned that their procedure is safe and is the most proven method of eye correction. I'll just look for a good and reliable eye doctor to perform the procedure.

Anyway, what's interesting on their site is that iLasik is conducting “You Gotta See This” iLASIK Video Contest. The contest is sponsored by Abbott Medical Optics Inc. (AMO), a global leader in laser vision correction. This contest invites the participants to make a video showing the impact of improved vision, for a chance to win cash and prizes. To join the contest, go to their site and simply submit a video in one of the listed categories. Then, tell your friends to vote and you will have a chance to win these great prizes: 1) One Grand Prize winner will win $5,000 — selected from all submitted videos, 2) Three First Prize winners will win an HDTV package (a $2,500 value) — one per video category, 3) Three Second Prize winners will win the Flip UltraHD camcorder (a $199.99 value) — one per video category.

So, what are you waiting for? Visit www.GottaSeeThisNow.com and try to see this for yourself!

The Lord of the Rings

I watched The Lord of the Rings trilogy film a few years ago. I never read the book but my husband told me that the book version was really great. I never bothered about it. But just this week, I went to Booksale (one of my favorite stores at the mall) and found LOTR by J.R.R. Tolkien books. Reading novels is one of my favorite pastime these days and how eager was I to get hold of my LOTR copy. Plus, it's for sale! So, without much thinking, I bought it right away. It may seem too much buying 3 books in one time but I thought it was still a cheap bargain, so - no sweat, hehehe... Besides, these are the kind of books which I can pass on to my daughter to read when she gets a little older.

I forgot to post in my blog some of Chloe's pictures taken during her 6th birthday last July. Although I posted a lot of pics on her blog (My Girl), these pictures were not posted in there, especially with me on it, hehehe...

Yummy Sunday: Pizza

This is my first time to join Yummy Sunday so this will be my very first entry. Thanking my sister in law of Perfectly Blended for inviting me.

I was browsing thru My Documents for an interesting food to feature and I found this one - Burnt Pizza, hehehe...

My daughter, Chloe, had their fun day at school last year and one of their activities was making pizza. It was sponsored by Pizza Hut. After she put on the ketchup, ham and cheese, Pizza Hut crew took her finished product and sent it to their store for final 'cooking'. They returned it to her later and what you see in the picture was the result. Despite that, the pizza still taste good. Of course, Chloe was able to consume all her share!

Beautiful Music, Beautiful Hair

Saw this video at my sister-in-law's blog. Got so awed, moved and touched with the story to think this is only a shampoo commercial. Posted it here in case some of you have not yet seen it. Pachelbel's canon in D major is my all-time favorite classical music, too. I wanna salute the man (or woman?) behind this commercial. I'm clapping my hands right now.

Chicken Pox

I am supposed to baby sit my 8-month-old nephew today and the next days, however, my daughter has chicken pox (also known as varicella), so I declined. Too dangerous for the little kiddo who didn't get his varicella vaccine yet. I guess Chloe got it from her classmate but I'm not mad or anything. It may be awkward to say but I am, at least, glad that Chloe has it today while she's still young. Unlike me, I had chicken pox when I was 6 month pregnant with Chloe. It was risky and I was scared of my condition but good thing I had it during my second trimester and the doctor assured me of the baby's safety.

Chloe was already immunized, she had her chicken pox vaccine when she was about 1 year old so, I guess that's why she looks alright - except for the vesicular skin rash or red spots in her body. I just put Caladryl lotion so that she won't feel that itchy. But that means also that Chloe will be absent from school for a long period of time.

Temporarily Offline

Hey Guys! Thanks a lot for dropping by at my site. Thanks a lot for your comments and messages, too. It means a lot to me.

I'm up to something and I need to take care of my health, too. I guess I was under pressure lately and now I need some rest. Had series of lab tests the previous week, had consultations with different specialists and so far, everything turned out well but was advised to take it easy and give myself a break. And just yesterday, I had tonsillitis...

So now, I'm taking a break, even in blogging... I cannot promise if I can visit your blogs these days (but I'll try). Anyway, I'll be back soon after everything has stabilized.

I'm not sure if I can update my other blog but

Cookie's Corner will be temporarily offline...
